Beyond the Dancefloor: the Wider Impact of Club Culture on Berlin - a Data-Driven Analysis
As the home of a diverse and extremely lively club culture, Berlin has a pioneering role to play in understanding the influence of club culture on a wider cultural, social and economic basis. This session explores the results of a comprehensive study undertaken by Berlin's Club Commission in cooperation with academic partners and will create a clearer, fuller evaluation of the importance of club culture for Berlin - in terms of both economic and cultural impact. The findings of this study will help strengthen Berlin as a location for clubs in the long term and create symbiotic benefits for other business sectors, as well as art, culture, and city society itself.

Sustainability Across Borders - Let's Join Forces Now!
Sustainability requires collaboration and coordination to work - and this is an international, but fragmented, industry. So how do you truly make sustainability happen in the music industry? In this workshop, Didier Zerath and Lionel Chassaing explain how we can work together and learn from one another across borders - as well as identify solutions which might already be in place, and take them to the next level.

You’ll work in groups focusing on different sustainability issues in the music industry, and explore how important areas like management, live music, and festivals can help achieve sustainable development goals in the music industry. It’s an essential learning session for anyone who believes in sustainability and wants to get things done!

The Power of Independence – the Importance of Balanced Power Distribution in the Music Industry
There's only one Google, one Facebook and one Amazon. So is the same thing happening in the music industry - are the big players, like Live Nation, gradually taking over? Does this neo-liberalist approach (as described by Berthold Seliger) create less room for independent venues and festivals to survive? We'll talk to independent venues and festivals on the importance of keeping it unique, independent and local - and how that contributes to the live market. This session will also touch upon questions like; what will happen to the smaller festivals? How can you make it without having the power of the big players? Why is it important to be independent - and what is the potential and power of that approach? And how do we ensure a healthy distribution of influence in the face of such enormous power?
